The year of the bird
The bird is a constant and potent symbol in many cultures. From its presence in religious and mythical symbology, through to the concept of the `post modern animal' as a reflection of self (the artist) and the other (the viewer), including the explortation of events and ideas, the bird is fraught with complexity. An exhibition investigating the use of the bird in contemporary Australian artistic practice, curated by Diana Robson.
